Piece Together Your Palette
Because every great quilt starts with the right combo
Start your quilt
Give your quilt a name so it appears on your finished palette — something like “Scrappy Stars” or “Baby Quilt for June.” Then choose how many fabrics your pattern calls for. Most quilts use 3–5, but you can add up to 8 with the plus button.
Number of colors
Set your color balance (optional)
By default your colors are split evenly. If your quilt uses more of some fabrics than others — say a background that covers half the quilt — expand this section and set how much of the quilt each color covers. Color A is usually your background, so it gets the biggest share. Drag any slider and the others rebalance automatically to keep the total at 100%.
Pick your colors
Tap a swatch to open the color picker, or type a hex code if you already have one (from a fabric line, a photo, or a past project). As soon as you pick your first color, we’ll suggest complete palettes built from classic color-theory harmonies. Tap the i on any suggestion to learn the idea behind it, and “Use this palette” to apply it — your hand-picked colors always stay put.
